Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail
Mont Ventoux, the Giant of Provence, peaks at 1,909 metres above vines and olive groves. A climb by bike, a hike at the summit, a descent through Bédoin or Malaucène: the mountain offers challenges to match everyone. Below, the Dentelles de Montmirail, slender limestone ridges, charm climbers and shelter the vineyards of Gigondas and Vacqueyras.
Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and Petrarch
A few kilometres from L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse hides France’s most powerful spring: a turquoise resurgence at the foot of an impressive cliff. It was here that the poet Petrarch sang his Laura. A picnic by the Sorgue, a visit to the museum-library and a walk at the foot of the cliff: a very singular setting for a first date.
Orange, Vaison and Carpentras
A UNESCO site, the Roman Theatre of Orange, with its great intact stage wall, is a setting rare in Europe. Carpentras, capital of the Comtat, preserves a very rare medieval synagogue and its famous winter truffle market. Vaison-la-Romaine lines up its ancient ruins and its Roman bridge. On Lyad, members from the Vaucluse share their must-sees; it is up to you to find someone to tour them with.
